Arthur Ganson is a Kinetic Sculptor. The work named “Machine with 23 Scraps of Paper”

The object is doing the movement of up and down regularly when we watch the machine is like we are doing the birdwatching and can feel the rhythm of the artwork. By watching the machine one can be relaxed and enjoyed. Even the sound of the machine can help people to imagine the bird is flying.

Another work of him is “Machine with a chair” when I look at the work I can imagine that I was sitting in that chair and doing the circulation. And the work makes me feel that I was dreaming.

His work comes from daily life and the main object what we can see and use for everyday life.

This is interesting and I also linked music and dance when I doing the Heide Project.

But it seems that my design is more abstract and less interactive with people. This work shows a great way to connect the public space with people and you can see from the video that everyone is happy. I think my current problem is limited to familiar design ideas and techniques, it is difficult to contact a new design method.

However, I think the sound of this work as a musical infrastructure should be a defect, how can people hear clearly in the crowded public space? I can see people bending over in the video trying to hear the music more clearly.

The purpose of this couple artist is pure and simple. After reading their brief history, I can clearly understand the most difficult step in their creation -- dealing with various governments.

Aside from this difficulty, I carefully read their works. Their works may not be exhibited for a particularly long period due to politics and special materials, so it is difficult to see such unique earth art. Their works embodied a beautiful yearning for freedom and fancy world. A single colour material represents purity and looks unique in the world of flowers and trees and mountains. I like the work of Verhüllte Bäume (Wrapped Trees), the simple materials plus the natural environment, the changes in light and shadow makes the work dynamic.

This project is from the same company and is also a very attractive project for me. I was attracted by the colour for the first time and second by the environment. I mean, this work looks very much like an outdoor disco.

But after looking closely at how the device works, I found that it is a good exercise in people's ability to cooperate, and it is a facility for all ages. The planner puts it on the grass to reduce the danger.

For me, the work brings people closer together.

When they approach the blackboard they can read the answers to the questions and think about their own lives. It might be a moment to think about one’s alternative lifestyle or to take pleasure in someone else's answers.

But I think the most important meaning of this work is to make people face the topic of death in a more positive way.

Anasia Franco

I like the idea of Franco's works, both of the work connecting the public art to the human being. But I prefer the second piece to the first. Although the concept of the heart of the first work stands out.

However, visually it is not an enjoyable piece and it is difficult to stay around the work for a long time because of the glare. In addition, it is not suitable for photo taking because the work is mainly shown at night.

The second piece is much softer and more in tune with its surroundings, therefore, making it a comfortable art for people to enjoy.

My research question is related to human behaviors and activities, so I think these two works of Franco set a good model for me.

It seems to me that the protagonist of this series is not the SOS sculpture but the bird, a maverick bird which seems to be a leader and leading the group of orange swimmers out of trouble.

This video reminds me of a children's song called Count Ducks, this is the lyrics: "In front of the bridge, swim through a group of ducks, come quickly count, 24678......, can not count the number of ducks, can not count the number of ducks....... "So when I think of the song, the sculpture is not so serious or make me feel tense but funny.

I think that's the wonderful thing about public art and art, different places, different understandings of culture can bring a completely different interpretation of an artwork.

How you took the sourest lemon that life has to offer and turned it into something resembling lemonade.
