HEIDE PROJECT

In Heide Project, we asked to design something which relevant to healing garden. In order to improve the condition of the site, I designed this pavement of the area since as an entrance the ground there is really difficult to walk. Combined my own experience, when I visit there I could not find Heide 1 for a quiet long time, I suppose this area should play an important role in leading the visitors to heide1.
Before I started to design this area I assumed that the sidewalk was disappeared，so that the place can provide more space for the pavement.
My idea is to create a healing zone for people on their way to home or while they are visiting, where they can feel close to nature and have a sense of self-comfort as they walk through the park. In this case, I coalesced elements of the Art Nouveau Movement which happened in french to reflect the influence on the Heide artists of that time.
I found that in Australia people likes to wear headphones to enjoy their own music space, The idea comes from that when people heard music they may naturally dance with the music even on the street. They may not really dance but they may stamp the floor tile follow the pattern and the music pace.
So in the design, I combined people's reactions to music. I choose two musicians to show the transformation of the art form at that time. One is the first Impressionist composer Claude Debussy（the song is The Girl With The Flaxen Hair）and the other is Cole Porter who is an American composer and he moves to Paris during the Art Nouveau era（the song named Friendship）. After that, I coalesced the artwork in heide1, The Dancer and Portrait of Sunday Reed, respectively created by john & Sunday reed’s friends Sam Atyeo and Moya Dyring.

Here is the picture of my friend helps me to test the path. I hope that the patterns on the ground will inspire people to dance, therefore, have an effect of releasing the stress and enjoying the place itself.
When I am testing my model, I noticed that in this project, I seemed to put too much attention on personal space, neglect the publicity and vitality of this public space. Therefore, I should develop this project into more public for the citizen. It's not just listening to the music on your headphones and enjoying the place，but also could be about enjoying the interaction between people.
